We used a Herbst appliance and braces to correct a significant overbite (also known as a ‘Class II’ bite). You can learn more about common orthodontic issues in children here:
In this case, Herbst appliance treatment corrected the relationship between this patient’s upper and lower jaw.
Carefully planned, well-timed orthodontic treatment has allowed this patient to achieve a better balance between upper and lower jaw relationships.

In the majority of cases braces or clear aligners alone are sufficient to address an overbite. Elastics may be used to assist with bite correction.
Herbst appliances may be offered as an option where the overbite is significant, or where the lower jaw is recessive.
Herbst appliances are one of the most reliable, predictable ways of achieving Class II bite correction in growing patients.
