Exceptional Clarity of FineLine_edited.jpg

At Fine Orthodontics we understand that most patients want treatment that fits seamlessly into their lifestyle. Orthodontic technology has advanced significantly over the years, resulting in the development of various innovative solutions designed to address tooth alignment.

Clear aligners are a revolutionary alternative to traditional metal braces, with Invisalign® standing out as a well-known alternative. Clear aligners allow you to eat, clean your teeth and play sport as you normally would. Clear aligners are removable, less noticeable, and more comfortable than fixed braces. For best results, they should be worn as much as possible (ideally 22 hours per day).

Whilst the aligners themselves are completely removable, most clear aligner systems will require the application of small, fixed attachments (buttons) on a number of teeth. These attachments help the aligners to better grip, and direct force on particular teeth as needed. Clear aligner attachments are almost always able to be translucent or tooth-coloured, and are much smaller, and less noticeable than fixed braces.

The most important factor in determining the outcome of any orthodontic treatment is the expertise and skill of your clinician. At Fine Orthodontics, no matter which clear aligner treatment option you choose, every aspect of your treatment will be personally designed by Dr Fine using 3D software.

To design and produce your aligners, Fine Orthodontics uses external aligner manufacturers, such as Invisalign®, as well as FineLine® a clear aligner system designed by Dr. Fine and offered exclusively to Fine Orthodontics patients.

Benefits of Clear Aligners

Technology has advanced to the point that clear aligners can achieve excellent results in most cases. In fact, there are some cases that may actually respond better to clear aligners than braces. At Fine Orthodontics, we’ll be sure to give you a full explanation of how clear aligners may help achieve your goals.

Compared to fixed braces, clear aligners offer numerous advantages, including:

  • A discreet appearance, which can reduce feelings of self-consciousness

  • Can be removed for special occasions

  • Remove to clean - brushing, flossing, and appliance maintenance is easier

  • Less food restrictions - There is less risk of appliance damage

  • Increased comfort - smoother surfaces for lips and cheeks

  • Less office visits, shorter appointments (at Fine Orthodontics, many visits can be replaced by our Remote Monitoring app)

Clear Aligners in Sydney

We have found that here in Sydney, the demand for clear aligners like Invisalign® has surged, owing to their convenience and aesthetic appeal. More than ever, qualified orthodontists and clinics are equipped to offer this treatment. Despite this increased availability, it is important to note that clear aligner treatment is not the same everywhere. It is worthwhile checking the background, experience and qualifications of your clear aligner provider.

Despite seeing the same aligner systems advertised across various websites and shop front windows throughout Sydney, it is important for patients to understand that this does not mean they will get the same outcome no matter where they go for treatment.

Whilst aligner companies provide high-tech treatment planning software and printing services, it is your treatment provider who uses these tools to design your outcome. Similarly, your treatment provider should also supervise your treatment throughout its course, making refinements as needed to ensure it stays on track.

Patients should keep this in mind when comparing various Sydney clinics, and should also consider the qualifications and experience of their clear aligner provider. In addition to specialist orthodontists, many general dentists in Sydney offer clear aligners alongside other types of services. Specialist orthodontists like Dr Fine have 2-3 years of additional tertiary training, and generally won’t offer any other services other than specialist orthodontics.

If your clinician is an experienced specialist orthodontist, they will have many hours of practice doing orthodontics exclusively. This extra training and practical experience enhances their ability to unlock your smile’s full potential, giving stable, long-lasting results that will increase the longevity of your teeth and contribute to improved overall dental health. Rather than the aligners themselves, it is the combination of skills, knowledge and experience of your aligner provider that will ensure that your orthodontic treatment will achieve the best possible result.

FineLine Clear Aligners_edited.jpg

In addition to offering external aligner systems such as Invisalign®,  Fine Orthodontics proudly offers the option of its own exclusive aligner system. Dr. Fine has developed FineLine, a series of custom aligners crafted right here in Bondi Junction Sydney.

FineLine presents a cost-effective and efficient treatment alternative, incorporating the latest advancements in clear aligner technology. FineLine harnesses the strengths of clear aligner technology, tailored for a smaller, more personalised scale.

FineLine aligners are made locally, in our on-site lab, rather than shipped from overseas. Aligners can be arranged quickly, reducing delays between scanning and fitting of aligners.

Compared to other treatment options, we can generally arrange FineLine for a lower initial deposit, since there is no need to order all the aligners upfront from an external company. During your complimentary* assessment appointment, we will inform you if FineLine is a suitable option for your orthodontic needs.

We have samples of different aligner systems at our office. You'll have the chance to compare side-by-side, and the choice is yours to make.

Frequently Asked Questions About Clear Aligners

Clear aligners often raise a number of questions among potential patients. Here at Fine Orthodontics, we are committed to providing you with the answers and helping you make an informed decision about your dental care.

  • How is Clear Aligner Treatment Different at Fine Orthodontics?
Imagine orthodontic treatment that straightens your teeth discreetly, without anyone knowing. Yes, continued innovation in clear aligners has made aligner treatments far more capable. Many are surprised at what can be done with aligners when compared with conventional braces. Not only has Dr Fine been working closely with Invisalign® since 2000, he has also kept a close watch on new developments and has now developed his own system of manufactured Aligners: FineLine. So you can be assured that the latest innovations will be applied to your or your child's treatment at Fine Orthodontics. (Yes, we offer Invisalign® and other types of Clear Aligners for children as well). Dr Fine's own aligner system FineLine is a great option in many cases, and is available exclusively at Fine Orthodontics. FineLine uses the best available materials and the latest technologies and techniques in Clear Aligner design and manufacture. When choosing where to have your treatment, it is important to remember that the success of your treatment will depend on the experience and ability of the clinician who plans and manages your treatment. This is why it's crucial to choose the right orthodontist to ensure the best outcome for your smile. The orthodontist's knowledge, skills, and dedication are essential factors in determining the success of your treatment. Whilst general dental clinics may offer orthodontic services (including clear aligner treatment like Invisalign®) only qualified specialist orthodontists have the necessary skills and education to ensure that you get the very best result possible. Orthodontists have an additional qualification on top of general dentistry, with 2-3 years extra specialist training. In addition, experienced specialist orthodontists have spent countless hours planning and carrying out orthodontics exclusively. With over 30 years of specialist experience, Dr. Fine is highly-skilled and knowledgeable, and is an expert at using clear aligners to create beautiful, healthy smiles.
  • Why do people usually choose aligners over braces?
People usually choose aligners over braces because: they are less noticeable than metal or even clear braces clear aligners are removable, so brushing and flossing is easier they are more comfortable than clear, metal or lingual ('behind the teeth') braces there are fewer dietary restrictions aligners require less maintenance and fewer office visits many office visits can be replaced by remote monitoring they can be removed for special occasions Clear aligners are only as good as the dental professional managing the process. A highly trained orthodontist can use the Invisalign® clear aligner system to its full potential. Orthodontic specialists also utilise advanced aligner accessories and tooth attachments. These accessories allow for more complex treatments previously only possible with braces.
