Dr. Fine brings his passion and proficiency to every aspect of the process.
FineLine vs. Traditional Aligners
Most clear aligner systems work by providing clinicians with smile design software, which they use to plan and customise a series of aligners. The aligners are generally produced overseas, and shipped as a complete set to your local clinic.
The FineLine system is different, because all aspects of the system are produced right here, in our on-site digital orthodontic laboratory. By leveraging our experience working with a variety of aligner systems, insight into dental material science, biomechanics and digital orthodontic software, we were able to create a system perfectly balanced to meet the needs of many patients.
This has resulted in FineLine, where we are able to control each of the phases of the aligner process.
As FineLine clear aligners are designed and produced locally in our on-site lab, FineLine is associated with a relatively fast turnaround. As shipping is not required, FineLine can be ready in as little as 24 hours if required.
FineLine incorporates the best available materials, cutting-edge technology, and the latest methodologies. The affordability of FineLine is the product of enhanced efficiency, with the entire team at Fine Orthodontics striving for smarter processes which allow us to pass on cost savings to our patients.
Furthermore, FineLine aligners can be made incrementally during the course of the treatment, instead of all being made upfront. This means that FineLine can be offered without the need for a large deposit. Choosing FineLine makes it easier to spread your treatment fee out across the duration of your treatment.
FineLine leverages the latest digital technology to provide high levels of personalisation and control.
As aligners can be arranged as they are needed, we are able to offer low-deposit options.
Clearly Designed for You
What’s important to you?
With over 20 years of clinical experience working with clear aligner systems, at Fine Orthodontics we understand that people want aligners that:
Are as clear as possible
Are easy to wear and comfortable
Move your teeth as efficiently as possible
Minimise environmental impact
Are affordable and without large upfront deposits
Deliver an aesthetic outcome using current smile technology and research
Clear aligner orthodontic treatment involves several steps, including scanning, design, manufacturing, ongoing supervision and treatment adjustments as needed.
For optimal patient outcomes with FineLine, each step of the the aligner process has been optimised to meet the above objectives, ensuring the creation of an idealised clear aligner system.
WY(d)SIWYG
For those who are not familiar with the term WYSIWYG (pronounced wi ·zee · wig) means “what you see is what you get”.
With FineLine - ‘what you (don’t) see is what you get!’
This is for two reasons. Firstly, every aspect of the FineLine system has been carefully designed and optimised to be as clear as possible.
Secondly, despite their clear, streamlined appearance, a wealth of knowledge and technology lies behind the FineLine system:
Exceptional Clarity
Extensive research has guided our development of FineLine aligners to deliver outstanding clarity. We have identified the key aspects of clear aligner technology that enhance transparency, and incorporated them into our aligner system.
Exceptional Customisation
How is FineLine different?
Most other clear aligner systems are aligner manufacturers (suppliers).
FineLine, on the other hand, is produced on-site in our own facility, so we are able to monitor the fabrication in conjunction with the clinical processes.
The FineLine system is seamlessly integrated into our specialist orthodontic practice.
This comprehensive approach empowers us with increased agility, providing exceptional clinical control.
A reality of clear aligner treatment is that in-treatment updates to your clear aligner series may be indicated, based on your response to treatment. This particularly the case if your treatment is being supervised by an experienced professional who is seeking to ensure that you achieve the best possible outcome.
This is certainly the case at Fine Orthodontics, where our goal is always to ensure that your smile reaches it's full potential!
With FineLine, in-treatment responsiveness is built into the system, as we use your ongoing treatment progress to inform the design of your subsequent aligners. This way we can make small adjustments as your treatment progresses.
This differs from most other clear aligner systems, where a large number of aligners are usually all produced and shipped upfront.
With FineLine we have responsive care, as we can rapidly and precisely adapt aligners as your treatment progresses.
Patient Comfort and
Treatment Efficiency
FineLine aligners are designed to exert gentler forces initially, increasing pressure levels within each treatment stage. This approach ensures enhanced patient comfort and treatment efficiency.
Advanced Laser Cutting
FineLine has been an early adopter of advanced laser cutting. The use of this technology allows FineLine to follow the curves of your teeth and gums, applying a precise scalloped edge to your aligners.
This cutting methodology enhances both comfort and aesthetics. Your aligners will blend seamlessly into your smile, ensuring that they will be virtually undetectable to most casual observers.
Environmentally-Conscious Approach
FineLine is committed to minimising its environmental impact. We produce aligners on an as-needed basis, reducing waste significantly. Moreover, as they are locally made in Sydney, FineLine aligners do away with unnecessary shipping, thereby further reducing the environmental impact of clear aligner treatment.
In addition, we have also made a conscious choice to use paper packaging (rather than plastic) for each individual aligner.
Support Local Manufacturing
Unlike many alternatives that rely on overseas production, we have established our own state-of-the-art lab.
Our innovative approach allows us to design and manufacture personalised aligners at a lower price than using alternative, overseas-manufactured aligners.

How is Clear Aligner Treatment Different at Fine Orthodontics?Imagine orthodontic treatment that straightens your teeth discreetly, without anyone knowing. Yes, continued innovation in clear aligners has made aligner treatments far more capable. Many are surprised at what can be done with aligners when compared with conventional braces. Not only has Dr Fine been working closely with Invisalign® since 2000, he has also kept a close watch on new developments and has now developed his own system of manufactured Aligners: FineLine. So you can be assured that the latest innovations will be applied to your or your child's treatment at Fine Orthodontics. (Yes, we offer Invisalign® and other types of Clear Aligners for children as well). Dr Fine's own aligner system FineLine is a great option in many cases, and is available exclusively at Fine Orthodontics. FineLine uses the best available materials and the latest technologies and techniques in Clear Aligner design and manufacture. When choosing where to have your treatment, it is important to remember that the success of your treatment will depend on the experience and ability of the clinician who plans and manages your treatment. This is why it's crucial to choose the right orthodontist to ensure the best outcome for your smile. The orthodontist's knowledge, skills, and dedication are essential factors in determining the success of your treatment. Whilst general dental clinics may offer orthodontic services (including clear aligner treatment like Invisalign®) only qualified specialist orthodontists have the necessary skills and education to ensure that you get the very best result possible. Orthodontists have an additional qualification on top of general dentistry, with 2-3 years extra specialist training. In addition, experienced specialist orthodontists have spent countless hours planning and carrying out orthodontics exclusively. With over 30 years of specialist experience, Dr. Fine is highly-skilled and knowledgeable, and is an expert at using clear aligners to create beautiful, healthy smiles.

Why do people usually choose aligners over braces?People usually choose aligners over braces because: they are less noticeable than metal or even clear braces clear aligners are removable, so brushing and flossing is easier they are more comfortable than clear, metal or lingual ('behind the teeth') braces there are fewer dietary restrictions aligners require less maintenance and fewer office visits many office visits can be replaced by remote monitoring they can be removed for special occasions Clear aligners are only as good as the dental professional managing the process. A highly trained orthodontist can use the Invisalign® clear aligner system to its full potential. Orthodontic specialists also utilise advanced aligner accessories and tooth attachments. These accessories allow for more complex treatments previously only possible with braces.
Find out more about clear aligner alternatives
We believe it is important for our patients to make informed choices regarding their orthodontic treatment. The Australia Society of Orthodontics has stated that they do not endorse any particular clear aligner brand over any other, and that the knowledge and expertise of the treating orthodontist is much more important than the brand name of the aligner system.
At Fine Orthodontics, we share this philsophy, and keep an open mind regarding the various clear aligner systems available to us. When discussing orthodontic treatment options, we keep in mind your unique needs and lifestyle, as well as any preferences you have regarding clear aligner systems.
During an initial assessment appointment with us, you'll have the opportunity to compare different clear aligners, side-by-side.
First and foremost; clear aligners are a tool, and it is the clinician designing your smile who will ensure that your orthodontic treatment is exceptional.
In addition to FineLine, we also offer other systems, such as Invisalign® and Spark®. We'll show you what we can offer, and ultimately, the choice is yours.
