How to Get Free Braces in Australia?

Braces can help correct smile imperfections to pave the way for a healthier, more successful future. They shouldn’t break the bank. While getting braces for free is certainly rare, there are a few ways you can get them at low or reduced cost to make the financial investment less of a burden on you and your family.


Will Medicare Cover Braces for Free?


Unfortunately Medicare generally doesn’t cover braces – or any orthodontic treatment for that matter. There is one exception however. If you have an existing underlying diagnosed medical condition (such as a cleft palate) you may be entitled to some rebate.


Dental Insurance Policies


You may get help via your private health insurance. Check your inclusions on an existing policy if you have one. There are a number of different plans to choose from depending on your needs, and you will need to verify coverage details with your provider, but many companies offer rebates on orthodontic work such as braces.



Other Ways to Make Braces More Affordable


If you don’t have health insurance coverage then there are still ways you can make your braces more affordable. Talk to your orthodontist about the financial obligation up front to see what payment options they may offer in their office. Many orthodontists are willing to establish payment plans or flexible options for you to pay for the treatment over time.
